Safety
Safety
Meeting people in person is the point, and it carries real risk. Here is what the app does, and what stays your call.
Adults only
You must be 18 or older. The app asks for your date of birth when you join and does not offer an account below that age. The app does not check your identity or your face; being signed in does not prove who someone is. Treat everyone you have not met as a stranger.
Block and report
- Block a person from anywhere you see them. You disappear from each other at once: no ads, no Green Light, no calls, no albums. They are not told.
- Report a person, a personal ad, a message or a photo from the same place. A person reviews reports. Reporting does not require you to block.
- Reports can lead to a warning, a restriction or removal. Some records of a report are kept for a limited time so the review can be fair.
Before you meet someone
- People you meet through the app are shown by a per-connection handle, not an account id, so one connection cannot be traced to your other activity.
- Talk on a call first. Calls ring like phone calls, only when both of you agreed, and your phone number is never shown.
- Meet somewhere public and tell someone you trust where you are going.
Date safety kit
- Call emergency services is the first button on the kit.
- Rescue call: rings you at a time you choose, under a name you choose, so you have a reason to step away.
- Date plan: who, where and when. It stays on your phone. "Tell" opens your messaging app with the words ready, and you press send.
- Check-in timer: asks "Are you okay?" at the time you set. If you do not tap "I'm fine" within five minutes it sounds an alarm and offers to tell the person you trust. It uses no location.
House Rules time
At a gathering, the host may offer House Rules time: a calm clock and a big Leave button. Joining is your choice. Nothing locks your phone, nothing reads what you do on it, and emergency calls work as always. You can leave at any moment. If the host turned on "party pooper" you are told before you agree: leaving early plays a silly sound that others in House Rules time hear, with your name.
Photos
Gathering photos are only seen by the people who were there, from an album that opens when the party ends. If you are in a photo and want it down, "I'm in this photo" sends a private request to the host and the person who took it. The app cannot stop someone from photographing a screen, and it does not claim to.
Emergencies
The app is not an emergency service. In an emergency call your local emergency number from your phone.
